【摘要】One of the most epoch\|making events in Chinese economy at the beginning of the new century is that the Central Government decided to develop the western part of China.The main means is to increase investment of infrastructure,which is also strongly suggested by economists and desired by the Local Governments.However,the investment fields should be appropriately chosen because the amount of investment provided by the Central Governments is limited.The present empirical study indicates that highway and the expenditure on eduction play statistically significant positive role in the local economic development and are insuffcint,while the expenditure on research shows no statistically significant effect on the local economy.
